13 December is St. Lucy’s feast here in Italy. This is a pretty big thing for everyone. She was born in Siracusa nell’anno 281. She became a martyr around 304 AD. She was executed in Sicily and they ripped her eyes out before killing her. She wears candles around her head to light the way. And if you were good this year, and leave out salt and carrots for her donkey she will leave you sweet treats, and if you were bad. She will leave you coal. Much like Santa Claus. She loves all children and that is why she goes around and leaves sweet treats.
You can read more about her at this site. https://www.santodelgiorno.it/santa-lucia/
Santa Lucia is also a brand of Mozzarella we have here 🙂
We all were waaaaaay to good this year in my house. Saint Lucy dropped off so many sweets it was amazing!
We also left out 6 plates of salt for her donkey. He must have been lacking some salt because he ate all the salt we left out!
We have been pretty busy here this week and weekend.
I’m crocheting up a storm trying to get things done for Christmas.
I did finish a really really Lacey crochet neck warmer, I just needed to add buttons, which I went to town and purchased today.
I am also working on this Beauty Shells Baby Blanket.
