I have been crocheting since I was very very young. Some of my fondest memories are of my grandma teaching me how to make a chain, and then a second row! I remember starting all the chains for her while she was making squares for blankets, shawls, scarves and whatever else she was working on.
With the information I learned so young, I learned as they taught in the house, I learned do this because of this and use this stitch because it makes this. I had no idea of all the specifics and what any stitches are called.
Now that I am here in Italy, I have been frequenting a shop here in my village that has nothing but wool and yarn and everything associated with crocheting uncinetto and knitting lavoro a maglia. I now have a desire to learn how to read patterns and read crazy terminology and short hand for different stitches and designs.
