Preheat oven to 350°F and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
In a small bowl whisk the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon together and set aside.
In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream butter and sugar together until fluffy, about 4 minutes.
Beat in eggs, one at a time. Then add vanilla extract and mix well.
With the mixer running on low, add about 1/3 of the flour mixture and mix until almost combined, then add half the milk and mix until just combined. Repeat with another third of flour mixture and then the last half of the milk, ending with the last third of the flour. Beat until just mixed. Do not overmix!
In a bowl combine chopped apple, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Spread half of the batter into the loaf pan, top with the apple mixture, then by the remaining batter.
Then combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle it on top.
Bake for 45-55 minutes until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Baking times vary so start checking around 40 minutes
Remove the bread from the oven and let cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Allow to cool completely before slicing.
