Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup dijon mustard
- 1/4 small onion
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
- 1 orange
Directions
- Roughly chop the onion, and place it in a sauce pan.
- Cut the orange in half, and squeeze the juice out into the sauce pan, then place the rest of the orange into the pan as well. (trust me)
- Dump all the rest of the ingredients into the sauce pan, and then bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- Once you have a rolling simmer, cover the pot and reduce the heat to low.
- Simmer for about 10 minutes, the sauce will become thick.
- Use a strainer placed over a bowl, and strain the sauce into the bowl.
- Once you have that discard the onion and orange pieces.
- Pour the sauce from the bowl into an air tight jar.
It is super hard to find random sauces that I had in America, so I am improvising, adapting and overcoming these obstacles!
We are working on some new sandwiches at the restaurant and I am making different sauces to put on different types of meats, this is one I was trying the other day. Not just the steak sauce, but mixed with some other stuff (it’s a secret, and I can’t give away the restaurant secret sauces!!!!).
I also had no idea on how to make this sauce look pretty for a picture…..
