Sweet Tea… in Italia!

Italy, Amazing Food, Love and Wine Y'all!

I decided to do this Bone Broth, and write about it.

I went to a herbal conference.. This was an all female conference… it was great.. I will say I had my reservations about it being some big hippie-woman-crazy-fest.. but, we talked about herbs and stones and broths and how to give, but take back.. and how important that it is for us to take back.. we give to much of ourselves and get nothing back.. so we need to nourish ourselves.

Side note, I think that will be my new intention with life and my yoga practice.  Maybe that will help me be more peaceful and less stressed. I pulled out an oldie but a goodie, Deepak Chopra’s book on the seven secrets to spiritual success, and I have been going through that book taking notes..
I have realized I need to slow the hell down and enjoy life..

Soooo Back to the herbal conference I attended a few weekends ago.  It opened my eyes up to a lot of things, one of them being bone broths.  I had been eating Pho a lot from the Thai place down the street and that was a beef bone broth that they cooked for as papa would says “vedy vedy long tine”!  and I love it.. so I was super stoked to attend this class..

This girls name was Katrina, and she was from a webpage called maj
estic unicorn (Love the name).  She was talking about how we need to channel our inner kitchen witches and feel the herbs that our bodies need.  And listen to the inner voice that tells you what you need..

So, she sent us off with a guideline to follow which was :
3-4lbs of chicken bones and chicken feet.  onions, not peeled or chopped.  a whole head of garlic optional roasted and cut in half, no peeling. ginger root al natural. some celery and parsley. salt and pepper and cook it for 2 days on low after you bring it to a boil…

Before adding water

umm, ok.. So, I decided that I would leave out the chickens feet to start with..
So, after deciding that leaving a big stockpot on the stove unattended for a few days was a bad idea.. I decided to use the crockpot..

I threw that bad boy up on the counter and added.
1 whole chicken (with it’s guts from the store out of the bag)
3 onions cut in half and first layer peeled
1 whole head a garlic, each clove peeled but left whole
3 big handfuls of parsley (just ripped off the stem)
1 big handful of Rosemary (gee I wonder why)
1 small handful of Thyme
1 handful of celtic sea salt
1 handful of peppercorns
1 small ginger root washed and cut into big chunks
3 big carrots washed and cut up into big chunks.
3 celery stalks washed and trimmed up then cut in half
Filled the crockpot up with water, like all the way up, and put it on low.. and left it……..
