The feast of the Immaculate Conception (L’Immacolata Concezione) is an Italian public holiday celebrated annually on December 8. The day commemorates when Mary, the mother of Jesus, was graced by God to lead a life “free of sin” according to Catholic belief.
This is when a lot of people put up their trees and start to really celebrate Christmas. But, the American in me put my tree up right after thanksgiving!
This year is crazy, because they have tried to cancel all of the normal Christmas celebrations here, due to the pandemic. Hence, we have no Christmas market this year, and there is no Christmas tree in the square…. Che palle.
But, Christmas is a go-go in Veneto! And my friend was one vacation at work, and she said we needed to go to Verona. Verona is very special to me, and I am always up for a girls day road trip!
My Christmas tree is up, and my Christmas spirit is high! Even the puppies are ready. I’m making cookies and crocheting all kinds of things, Staying warm by the fire. Life is good.
They are even calling for snow today! I’m so excited!
