Sweet Tea… in Italia!

Italy, Amazing Food, Love and Wine Y'all!

The other night, we took the bikes out for a spin. I am always around town with my bike, but Nicola decided he wanted to go for a spin.

So we hooked up the trailer to his bike and I put Gemma’s basket on the back of my bike. And we headed to town, I needed some dog food and we wanted to have an aperativo out in town.

Rollo wondering what the heck I’m doing behind him!

We decided to go to a place that just opened up, but it was closed and I don’t even remember the name of the place…

But, then I said, let’s go somewhere we never go. So I got to thinking that the other day my neighbor told me that the old Casino in town had amazing brioche’s made with pistacchio cream…. Interesting…. and that came into my mind so I said, lets go there.

It really is a beautiful place, and not a lot of people around. So we talked with the bartender for a while, he was a super nice guy. I did inquire about the brioche (I mean we are talking food here) and he told me that their pastry chef comes from Sicily!!!

I need to go there for breakfast. End of Story. He also told me that they sell out of the brioches pretty quick. I do need to figure out what time they open and go over there. Maybe I’ll walk to town with my uncle one morning, he walks to town ever day and buys groceries for the day. I thought that was a little much at first, but seriously, I do it as well. Not as much through the summer, because we have most everything fresh growing in the gardens.

Speaking of fresh fruits and vegetables. I have FINALLY finished all of the pears and peaches. As we say here “che fatica”. Haha. For my final 6 peaches, I made a Bourbon Peach Chutney baked over Salmon. OHHHHHH my God it was good.

And now I have the last of the prunes from the trees. Next will be chestnuts and Cachi, which is persimmons, and finally Kiwi. I have no idea why we grow kiwi here, but we do. And right now they are harvesting grapes. Get this, they harvest grapes by hand here. How awesome is that?

This week has been so long. I got on the scale, but after all the cakes and sweets I made, I really thought that I would be disappointed, but the scale didn’t move to my surprise, and I believe that is a success.

I bought a weird kind of shoe the other day. It’s called “camper” they are out of Germany, everyone tells me they are super comfy. I was out and about with my friend and I got a delivered notification, I was so excited to get home and I opened the box, and they were brown. I hate brown. But, I got to looking at them and I really liked them. So I tried them on, holy crap batman they are comfortable as all get out, like wearing slippers.

They are a really dark brown, so it’s not like ugly brown. It actually reminds me of my reining saddle.

I kept them, and I wore them all day today. I love them.

Other news, I found out that young living has a european branch. I was so happy, I was going through withdrawals from some of my oils that I had used and they were empty. I reactivated my account and moved it to Italy.

So be on the look out for posts on Essential oils! If anyone wants to enroll under me I would really appreciate it. I used to post a LOT of things about essential oils. I’m going to go through a series of cooking recipes with the oils. I ordered a whooooole bunch of stuff the other day 🙂 I’ll put the links to the essential oil things down below.

A few other things. We went to have pizza the other day with our neighbors. They are super healthy, and we all do yoga once a week in the morning for a hour. You see where this story is going right? probably not, but, we went for pizza at a new place. I say new, it’s been open for a year and I went last year one time and I didn’t like it. I think I didn’t like the company I was with more than the fact I didn’t like the pizza.

Our neighbors, who are also friends, suggested that we try pizza dough made with farro. Farro. I had no idea. Recently I started eating pasta made with farro and I eat farro a few times a week. I love the stuff. I have no idea why it Never crossed my mind to make pizza with farro.

This is on my list of things to try next week. I need to research the farro flour a little bit more, then I will do some trials and see what I come up with. I’m sure fresh yeast is involved. But, I ate 1 and a half pizzas…. yes you read it right. Fat girl likes to eat. The crust was light and wasn’t heavy. I slept the whole night through after and I was super please. Sometimes when the dough isn’t proofed and made right, you wake up in the middle of the night and you are thirsty because the yeast is going along it’s merry way and fermenting in your stomach. I hate that.

I also did a randomized controlled study on Coffee the past few weeks.

It was a long and tedious journey. I tell you, what a chore to drink coffee every day. haha just kidding. I still stand firm to Lavazza Oro is my favorite. And In particular order: Lavazza, a tie between Caffe Verso Rosso and Bialetti il caffe del seduttore, and finally caffe vero gold. Now that I’m thinking about Coffee, I want some. And I need to go have something to eat. I did make vegetable soup tonight with farro!
