Homemade Fig Spread
This is a thicker sauce and you can use it as a topper for toast or cookies, or just eat it with yogurt. I am a big fan of eating honey and figs in my yogurt.
Ingredients
- 6-8 fresh figs
- 1 oz fresh squeezed orange juice
- 1 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- a pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, add all the ingredients and bring to a boil.
- Once it is boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and stir frequently until about 3/4 of the liquid has evaporated. About 20 minutes.
- Once it has evaporated, remove from heat.
- Pour the mixture into a food processor and pulse until combined smooth.
I use this fig spread for all kinds of things, including marmalade for toast, add a layer of this into a cake, mix with yogurt and honey.
Place this on top of brie and bake in the oven for an awesome treat!
Or use this in a fig cheesecake recipe!
