Sweet Tea… in Italia!

Italy, Amazing Food, Love and Wine Y'all!

So, I haven’t been keeping up like I should, but in my defence, the moon was full and I was left unsupervised! No seriously, I have finished the cookbook!!!!!! I have already sent it off to get it’s first edits all 218 pages of it!

July 9th was my birthday, I had a wonderful day. We had a nice little party with the neighborhood, family and a few close friends.

A friend of mine bought me a chef jacket. I don’t feel worthy or a chefs coat, maybe no worthy, but I feel like since I never went to school to be a chef, I’m an imposter. But, a few of my friends call me chef. Anyway, it was a really shockingly nice thing to recieve.

And a few days after that, I went to Trento with two of my friends, and we had an aperitivo, then went to eat Tapas. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them. With all this lock down and crap that has been going on, I haven’t seen either one of them much.

A few nights after that, my friend and I were talking about Pizza, and decided to go to the shortest river in the world and have a pizza there.

This place is called Cassone di Malcesine. It is gorgeous and in the veneto region, but only about 20 minutes from us by car. We shared pizza, I got a pizza with all things seafood and she got a “house” pizza and we halved them. Then I brought home the hugest calzone that I have ever seen in my life. I could never eat the whole thing, but Nicola ate it all! I didn’t take a picture of it, and I don’t know why…..

And then a few days after that, I went to a place I have never been to before, and it is in my own darn back yard! I have always seen this place up on the side of the mountain. But, I have never thought to go up there.

So last Saturday, Katrin suggested going there to make an aperitivo together.

We had to take a cable car to get to the top! This place is called Bastione Riva Del Garda. Basically its on the side of Mount Rocchetta. I learned that it was built in the fifteenth century. And it served as a military post for protection. I also heard someone said it was bombed during the World War II.

Then Monday we went back to Rifugio Lausen in Veneto. It was my mother in laws birthday the day before and she wanted a family outing. So the 6 of us loaded up in the van and headed up the windy, curvy, road. Which by the way, I think is worse than the tail of the dragon. Wait, there is 8 of us including the puppies!

We waited for the Cometa Neowise (C/2020 F3). Saw the International Space station fly by, at a fast pace. Which I thought it would be going slower, I don’t know why.

That is about it for a recap, this brings us up to today. I went to the street fair for St. Anna, which is the patron saint of our village.

There happened to be a lot of stuff there, I bought a pretty yellow dress, and a shirt…………. and I may have seen a bird. I’ve been half-assed thinking about the fact I wanted a bird. I miss my blue jay that I took care of.

Well anyways, I bought two cockatiels. One is grey and the other is white.

I was talking with the guy and he said they would be happy in a pair, but I could just get one. But I decided to get the two, and Nicola suggested it earlier when I called to inform him I may be making a purchase.

They don’t have names, and I’ve just had them in my office with me today while I was working on my book. They are a little timid and went through a traumatic experience today. So I’m leaving them alone and not popping 8 gazzilion pictures of them. One is a boy and the other one the guy wasn’t sure. So I don’t know. I will let them calm down and get acclimated to this place and then get names for them and pictures.

I’m excited to have birds again. They have great personalities and once you win them over as a friend they are really neat.
