March brought cold weather and restlessness for me.
And that is ok.. March comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lion or vise versa.. This March came in like wrecking ball.
I can say I was working through some deep seeded issues, mostly pertaining to the bullshit I went through.. but, closing up April and May bringing spring and new life… I can say I am finally peaceful. I have done what the Italians call “Fare fatica”.. but, I can now say officially I am peaceful… pretty damn fluent in Italian and feel more comfortable here far away from everyone and everything I knew. Far away from my mother language.. and everything I have ever known… I went from being “oh your american” to “where are you from” I don’t think my accent is too thick anymore and I am pretty conversational now. I have gotten to know the people at the grocery store, the stores and caffe’s. People still like to chit chat with each other here and talk about the old times and in one word the Italian sums it up “chiacchiere” and it is best done at the kitchen table with a lot of people. I also went through a stage where I decided to talk to a lot of people, then I remember people are people, and give them a chance to stab you in the back they will. So I keep everyone at arm’s distance. you never know what angle anyone is playing…. with that being said… I really have met some great people.. but, I have been living up to my life quote. Not all who wander are lost… and that is what I have been doing wandering… my new favorite past time is “ho fatto una passeggiata”.
I don’t have many stories to tell about the places I have been to these past few months… I generally do things like, exit the train station and start walking around and exploring.. checking out museums if they make me think.. hmmm… and sitting on a bench or sidewalk and watching people…
March:
Gemma and I found a medieval town (still inhabited) while we were walking in the mountains one day..
Then Gemma and I like to take walks at the lake.. This is one of my favorite pictures of Gemma.
I had been to Florence one other time, So I just went to eat the biggest steak in history and buy some ceramic shit..
Then… I took a week Hiatus……… and went to a dinner party, had a big glass of wine and decided to go to Napoli with two other friends…
But, between that…. Gemma and I have a bicycle and we have been wearing that joker out 🙂
April:
Then Napoli Happened….
ho pensato….. sono una Ferrari parcheggiata in un posto di una cinquecentro |
io amo napoli… seriously.. I have not smiled so much in so long I don’t remember. |
Then Pompei Happened.
Poi Vetra Sul Mare… Amalfi…
Found a business with my last name on it!!! I would have went in but they were closed.. |
Then I went to Padova… solely for the museum of anatomy and physiology and the museum of astronomy.. which both were freaking awesome..
That brings us too May. I went to Bolzano for Ă–tzi – the Iceman / South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology I remember reading about him when I was young. and my mother bought me the Time magazine, i was fascinated with the story.. and I spent a few hours in this museum.. It was fantastic..
and that is the end of that quarter of the year…. I will be doing more exploring around my area now…
Gemma and I have a groove that we are in.. and having a good time..
I have a car, So sometimes. I go up into the mountains, since I live in a valley, and I find all these neat towns.. and breathtaking views..
and Gemma is accustomed to getting her drinks in fancy glasses… Dogs are short of royalty around here, and I love it.. Dogs can go EVERYWHERE.. except the grocery store.. No one pitches a fit about oh my god there is a dog… everyone is like OHHHHHH PICCOLINA ahaha. Gemma likes the attention…
