Kota

About a year ago, I rescued this sweet baby girl named Dakota. I call her Kota.  When I first got her, we picked her up out of the car, and put her in the yard and she just laid down… she wouldn’t come in the house, she was shaking and just so scared.  So I picked her up and brought her in the house, she was a perfect lady, no mess, no fuss.. Just very scared.
with some time, about 3 weeks, she started using the doggie door.  About 6 months later, she jumped on the couch for the first time.. and shortly after that, she gave me her first kiss…
Now this dog is a mess, she is all over everything and occasionally if you make a fuss over her, she’s not sure of the tone of your voice and she will cower and scurry away, but I usually chase her and love on her.. then she jumps up and hugs me.  She literally hugs me, wraps her front legs around me presses her head into my stomach.. She’s a sweet baby girl.  So the other morning, I got up and snuck up on her. she was laying on a throw blanket in the tiniest ball, and it dawned on me…. I never bought her a bed.. shame on me..   There are 3 dog beds in the house and 6 dogs… One is zeus size, and two are for the mini aussies and Maya. Well I purchased her a bed…
I opened the package and made a big deal calling her over to check it out…
I put it down on the ground and I think she really knew if was for her.. because she jumped on it and started jumping up and down, She looked like she was smiling!

So, I put it in the living room, next to the couch I have saw her sleeping on the past few weeks.
She never used to sleep in the house until recently..

So, I showed her where it was a few times that night, and I swear she knew what I was telling her..
I snapped a shot of her later on that night!

I think she likes it…  and yes, that is my exercise equipment int he background haha.

But, food for thought…. Rescue dogs love you like no other dog will….  I would take her more places with me if she was ok in the car…

She hates the car, when I took her to the vet to get fixed, she thought I gave her up for good… she walked away with the vet tech all dejected.. and the next day, I went to pick her up.. and it was late.. so that poor girl spent over 24 hrs there….

I finished paying for the vet’s services and the guy went back to get her, he was walking her out talking nice to her.. that dog looked so depressed….. and then she spotted me.. stoped, looked really hard at me and I said “KOTA!” and he dropped the leash and she came running over and I was squatting and she jumped up on my shoulder and leaned into me and was whining, it about made me cry… that was the only good car ride she has ever had.. hahaha..

But, I love each one of my furbabies in different ways…
