My Gemma |
It has been a world-wind of a week.. Wednesday morning, I went out to the back porch to prepare the dogs food.. and I smelled something funny.. like electrical burning funny… not as in funny ha ha.. So I walked over next to the freezers and I didn’t smell anything.. then I heard a sizzle like noise, So I turned around and saw some smoke coming out of the water heater… I Walked over to it.. and the smell got stronger.. So I jiggled the wires and smoke started coming out, so I ran back into the house to the Breaker box and tripped the breaker for it. then went back and saw a bunch of the insulation was burnt and well I avoided my house burning down.. I am lucky I was home when that happened..
So we were without some hot water for a few days.. Long enough to find out that I couldn’t go for the tankless water heater, because I would have had to run new wire to the unit etc. So good ole fashioned tank water heater it is…
Then Thursday I waited for the guys to deliver my couch.. My old couch was so old that you could feel the wood frame in it, when you sat on it and reclined.. I opted not to go with another recliner, but, a sleeper sofa, so I had more places for people to sleep if they came to visit. And an ottoman… I like it.. It’s micro fiber and “highly stain resistant”. Sounded good to me with the 6 dogs.
After the couch was delivered, Gemma, Elena and Myself piled up into the car and headed to Atlanta. My Alma Mater asked me to speak at the university Thursday to some up and coming students, Most of them were pre-clinical students. They had some good questions, and brought up the topic of Opioid addiction in America. Hot topic and a tough one… but, Definitely a problem. I explained that the last time I checked, we had 101 overdose cases that came through the morgue.
That’s a lot. So It was good, I got a few e-mails from students telling me they were inspired.. That made me happy, I never thought of myself as inspiring.. but, it was a nice outlook.
I did develop a scorching case of road rage in my short stent to atlanta.. I took me 1 hour and a half to make it 15 miles… what the hell.. I’ve been gone out of there for all of like 8 years.. and traffic has at least tripled..
Gemma had a good time, I let her run on the Soccer field I used to play and practice on when I was in school.. and she came to the talk with me… The way I see it, Take me with my dog or leave me.. haha.. The Picture of Gemma above was at the Sunflower cafe’ in Atlanta.. It’s a Vegan place.. I like it there.. All of their food is awesome… I also picked up my Mother’s favorite dish from there and surprised her at her job with it.. I knew she was going to be busy at work all day and probably not have enough time to eat.. I am currently working on a huge tray of baked rigatoni and a spiced pecan bourbon pie… to be continued… Ciao y’all!
