Sweet Tea… in Italia!

Italy, Amazing Food, Love and Wine Y'all!

awesome.. I had all this crap written about texas and it didn’t publish… how about that…

Amarillo Morning

that’s about the way this morning is going.. I woke up thinking about how much the people in the CMSA suck…  there is a family that can host a week long event of shoots at their own ranch and gain a point advantage over other people..  AND then have your kid win high point in one state and the parent in another state that they don’t live in…. that’s an unfair advantage…then one guy finishes in the top 10 at worlds, wins his class and then wants to keep his amateur status….  I think I’ll just make a whole lot of waves in Houston…. when I get there in a few months…

My flight to Texas was uneventful, thank God.
I got to Amarillo around 10:30.   Then we went straight to the Trailer..

bright and early the next day I went to go check on Maggie and wonder if she was super pissed at me for riding Gracie the past few months and just putting her out to pasture…  I even took her shoes off and told her to just be a horse and hang out..

Maggie telling me good morning

She wasn’t as mad as I thought, she was actually pretty happy to see me.. and I tried to win her over just in case with a nice juicy red apple..

I fed the horses and got them all situated and headed over to the arena to see what we were going to do that day…

I then realized I was about 176 in the go order…

So, It was a bunch of hurry up and wait around…..

I went into the arena on Maggie for my first stage and smoked it… then on the second stage… I about dropped my dang gun and missed two balloons and that was the end of it…

I was pissed and bummed out… because when I saw the results I was like 17th…. I was pissed…

So I drowned my sorrows away in mexican food and mexican beer.. and had a great Idea……..

yeah… a drunk Idea….

I decided to hang Maggie’s saddle with bailing twine on her stall.. hahah….

Friday Morning..  I started out by feeding the horses and then going to the AQHA to change over the papers on all those mares that I bought…

While I was over there.. I ran into Maggie’s kin folk in the AQHA hall of fame πŸ™‚

mosied on through the AQHA museum and I read a lot about Joe Hancock and all the King blood line.. even saw my father’s horse in there the Zippo Pine Bar….
it was neat… but, we had to go over to the head quarters to get the mares registered…

and let me tell you what….  that place is all high security… they were all… why are you here? for what? how many horses?

but, I  must have passed their test and they gave me a badge…
what did they think I was going to do?  put myself in the hall of fame and add more points? hahaah

after a few hours there… I found out I was like 40 people out… so I was in panic mode.. we got back to the arena in record time… and I found Maggie all cleaned up and looking purdy…. I got a good friend named Adrianne πŸ™‚

and I saddled her up and tried to warm her up real quick and she wanted no part of that.. because we got into a fight in the warm up arena….
so I figured enough was enough.. and I headed over to the big arena…  I was standing in line to go… and there was ice falling from the sky hitting my hat… it was bad…

I was cold.. and Maggie was in a mare mood… we went in there and tore it up… got the fast time to beat πŸ™‚  then went into the other arena (they moved everything indoors from the covered arena outside since there was like 40mph winds and freezing rain..  so we did great in that arena.. maggie sucked up this barrel and spun around it while I shot 4 balloons around it and the one on top and then headed for the other barrel and back  towards the timer… I was pleased with my pony….

and then Saturday came along… and it was about time to say goodbye to Amarillo….  I did really good Saturday.. but, we left… and I figured I was still in 17th place…. until we crossed over into Oklahoma.. and I got a text message saying that I finished 5th.. and totally got a check πŸ™‚  so I was 5th at the World Championships with two misses.. πŸ™‚  I was really proud of Maggie….

well….  fast forward a tank of fuel and I was driving and it was about 3:45am…. and I was 15 miles from Arkansas………… well……… what had happened was… I was doing like 95 at one point.. there was NO ONE on the road… and it’s straight and flat…. so I was toting the mail….  I got pulled over.. I really wasn’t sure how fast I was going.. So the cop rolls up.. I rolled down the window and in my best Scarlet O’hara voice I said.. “well Hey how ya doing tonight?  the cop said he was good and that he needed to see my license.. so I explained it was in the horse trailer.. and he told me to get out and go get it.. so I did… and while we were walking from the truck to the door of the living quarters.. he said “where you going?”  I told him “South Caaaarolinaaa” he asked if I was going home I explained we had been in Amarilla’ all week…  etc… he told me I was doing 83 in a 70… so,  I gave him my license and he said he’d be back.. I told him I’d be in the truck.. and I went back to the truck…. to where My cowboy was waiting to ask me how fast I was going I told him 83… he then told me that I was going to get nailed because I drove a corvette and the insurance was going to go up.. and all this… but, the cop came back up to the window and told me to have a great night and drive safe πŸ™‚

Nice nice fella I tell you….  the way we figure it… He was looking for some drunk cowboys coming from the Rodeo.. and he had little ole me with my southern twang.. πŸ˜‰

Adrianne and I
