Preheat oven to 350F and line a loaf pan with parchment paper, set aside.
In a large mixing bowl add the butter, oil, brown sugar, eggs, water and vanilla and whisk until smooth and well incorporated.
In a another medium sized mixing bowl combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and spices and whisk to combine everything.
Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients a little as a time and whisking to combine.
Transfer batter to the loaf pan and smooth out with a rubber spatula.
Wash and dry your pears, and slice them into thing slices about 1/8" thick.
Place the sliced pears standing upright in alternating pattern across the whole bread.
Garnish with oats.
Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes and then remove cake from the pan and cool all the way before slicing.
