Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, beating well.
Then stir in the vanilla.
Combine the flour, baking soda and salt, and stir into the batter.
Finally, fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (optional).
Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until light brown.
Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
Enjoy warm and with milk!
